A sporty sponsor activity to Thika, Kenya
Building a community
'Self-reliance', that is what we want to teach the children and the families. In the shape of the saying 'Do not give fish, give a fishing rod to teach how to fish yourself', we want to give the families of the children all sorts of training in the soon to be built community training center. This will be an amazing ambition to be achieved!
To achieve this goal, we need around €40.000, which is this year's goal! We have complete faith in this ambition because of the great sucess of the 2020 and 2021 editions of the sponsor activity (read below at 'achieved results').
Also, you can look back at the pictures and profits from last year.
HOW?
We raise money by traveling the route the Kiota, Thika with all participants. By land, this route is about 10,000 kilometers. It's a long, long way! Therefore, we need as many sporty participants who are willing to join us.
How is it possible to contribute to this goal? You can do this by travelling a certain distance from your home, or your holiday adress. You can do this by walking, cycling, running or in any other sporty way. The distances travelled by all participants will be added. Of course, the goal is to virtually finish in Kenya at the end of the sponsor activity!
WHEN?
The sponsor activity takes place from the 12th of August untill the 12th of September. In honor of Kumbatio's 11th anniversary!
All information regarding how you can join us, what we expect from you and what you can expect from us, is described below.

Achieved results
In the past two years, we have achieved some amazing results with Walk with Kumbatio. Are you going to help us this year to exceed last year's results?
Participate by following these easy steps!
Step 1
Sign up in just a couple of minutes by filling in the registration form. Fill your personal details in at the form, which mode of travelling you choose and how many kilometers you are going to travel. In order to participate, you need to make a one time donation of 25 euros. Of course, all participants together form a team and to strengthen this team-feeling, we will sent you a t-shirt. If you do not wish to keep the t-shirt after the event, we will make sure it ends up at Kiota!
Do you want to participate with an association or as a group? Please personally contact .
Step 2
Try to find as many sponsors as possible who are willing to finance your sporty achievements for Kumbatio. You can think of family, friends or collagues. This can be done together with all the other participants at the Eventfundingspagina op Kentaa. Kentaa will give you some tips and tricks to help you gather as much funding as possible.
Step 3
Participants will be using the Strava application to track their distances from the 12th of August untill the 12th of September. Twice a week, we will keep you updated with everyone's performances and the virtual distance travelled to Kenya.
Take personal pictures along the way and send them to us or post them on social media! This way you can inspire other people to donate or participate!
Step 4
On September 12 we will announce whether we have managed to raise the necessary amount together... And whether we will be in Kenya, that is probably already known!
”The root cause of the challenges our children face is at the community households. A community center will provide a platform to empower the community members from those households. When the parents and guardians are able to utilize the skills acquired at the community center, a positive ripple effect will be felt even by the children. With empowerment, more children will have sustainable access to food, access to education and a holistic well-being of the household.”
